Day Thirty one

Wherever there's an edge, there's energy. Make a photo where two things meet: land-water, land-sky, etc.

I reserve the right to re-do this one when the light is better...

Day Thirty

Get up close and personal with a building today. Make a photo of an architectural detail.

Day Twenty nine

Sugar, spice, and everything nice. Make a photo of something sweet today.

Day Twenty eight

The economy is in the news all the time. Make a photo that illustrates the economy or its impact on you in some way.

Planning is easier with a glass of wine and a snoozing dog?

Day Twenty seven

Take something common--an object, building, or landscape--and compose an abstract composition with it.

Day Twenty six

Change your perspective today. Make a photo from a bird's eye view. Get out the chairs and ladders if you need to!

I seem to have an unintentional palm tree theme going on... I'll keep it up since we're moving soon.  Here's a shot of a tree on 2nd street as seen from my 3rd floor balcony.

My little people from the balcony in the house.  The flash seemed to give it a blue tint.

Day Twenty five

Right (90-degree) angles can help define a composition. Make a photograph involving intersecting lines.

I got off the elevator and had to stop what I was doing (reading the mail?) to take this photo. I really like the way the top railing shadow is in line with the bottom of the window frame.

Day Twenty four

Sunday challenge: Experiment with shutter speed today by making a photo with a long exposure.

Fun!

Day Twenty three

We're all collectors of something. Find an interesting way to display and make a photo of a collection today.
Welllll, not really true, I do not collect anything.  When Belle asked what todays pic was and I told her she said,  "I collect animal bracelets, and stuffed animals.  James collects cars and you collect jewelry."  How could I resist and for the record - I DO NOT COLLECT JEWELRY.

Day Twenty two

Let's have some fun on a Friday. Make a photo that goes with the title (or lyrics) of a song. Interpret away!

Your faith was strong but you needed proof, you saw her bathing on the roof, her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you

She tied you to a kitchen chair, she broke your throne, she cut your hair, and from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

The songs in your head are now on my mind
You put me on pause
I'm trying to rewind and replay

No line on the horizon
No, no line
No, no line on the horizon
No, no line

Day Twenty one

Quirky things often catch your eye and make for interesting art. Make a photo of something that makes you go "Hmmm" today.

Do I even need to say anything?

I had to zoom way in for this one, through the front door of a closed gallery, at night. But let me just say that a Chinese baby in a swimsuit carrying two fish really made me say, "HMMMMM??"

Day Twenty

Make your camera the star of the show today. Use another camera or mirror to put your camera in a photo of its own.

I have a few cameras, but since this is the one I use for our project...
I made it work!

Day nineteen

Make an interesting photo of a mode of transportation today: car, plane, bicycle, subway, or whatever you like!

Condo + dog = at least three walks all over our neighborhood, every day.

Day eighteen

Practice the art of simplicity today by making an interesting photo from a minimalist perspective

I had so much fun with this. Took lots of pictures I loved. It gave me an excuse to just take the shot because it looked interesting because minimalist has so many angles. I had some simpler in subject pictures, but none as interesting. I still think it fits in the category after looking it up on line this morning. Hope so.

Day seventeen

We've photographed many things, but few people. Make a photo where the theme is a person or people.

We were all dancing and I did not notice James go to the fridge and get the big hunk of cheese. So here they are dancing there hearts out in unison, Belle empty handed and James with his cheese.

Not an easy assignment while I'm working my way through the days solo! I'm not comfortable asking strangers if I can snap their photo... so this is a bit blurry, but still, I like it. A family killing time by the aquarium at Salt Life, waiting for their table.

Day sixteen

One man's trash is another's treasure. Make a photo of something discarded or abandoned today.

My question is: How did a cup make it all the way from Harry Carey's (in Chicago) to an empty lot in Jacksonville Beach:

Showing the house today, so I decided to throw away some of my favorite empties.

Day fifteen

Converging lines direct the viewer's eye. Sometimes found in railroad tracks, highways, and buildings.

Day fourteen

Play with contrasting scale today: juxtapose something small with something big!

Posted by PicasaSometimes things work out.  This was not the shot I was going for at all, but all of a sudden the children want nothing more then to be involved in this project, so I took this to make Belle happy, and I loved it the best of all.

---
I think I have a mental block against this assignment? Which makes me want to accomplish it all the more, so stay tuned. I've tried to different approaches. One just plain didn't work and the other... stunk.

Day thirteen

Make a photo of something you wear to keep yourself warm and/or dry: coat, gloves, scarf, hat, you name it!

My favorite hat and mittens - both were gifts. During the last 15 years, the mittens have warmed my hands in the US, Korea, China, Germany and The Czech Republic - they've even had an adventure without me when a friend borrowed them for a Bears game at Soldier Field.

The blanket Jym picked up for me in Ireland on his way home for R&R, and my slippers I exchanged with El for Christmas.  You can find me with one of these or both most of the time.

Day twelve

Someone once said "Music is what feelings sound like." Make a photo of something musical to illustrate the quote today.

Not sure if my photo illustrates what feelings sound like, but just seeing the Freebird Live makes me smile inside, so it works for me!

Since we've moved just a few hundred yards from this great venue, I've seen:
Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters
Blues Traveler
Johnnie Winter
Gavin DeGraw
Matt Nathanson
Plain Jane Automoblie
The Bravery
and probably some others I am forgetting.

Day eleven

What's your favorite color? Make a photo dominated by your favorite color today and share it!

I went to the beach at the exact time of day has that has a specific blue sky that I love.... I took a bunch of photos until I got just the right one. And on my way home, I stopped and snapped this one, which I like much better. This color should be called "Jacksonville Beach Blue."

My favorite would be green then yellow, so I saw this first thing this morning and it was the only picture I took.  Yet, if I was in the right place, and the sky was it normal perfection, I would have surely chosen the blue of the Colorado sky as my favorite color.  Ironic.

Day ten

Silhouettes are an interesting way to abstract a subject. Make a photo featuring a silhouetted subject today.

Posted by Picasa UGHH!  Due to my flash issue (I can not turn it off) this was a hard one for me.  I plan on working on it, but now that we are so into this I wll not be sending it off to be fixed.

Okay, Day Ten was not my best day either. Once I was was done (or so I thought) I googled the difference between a shadow and a silhouette and it turns out... I was all wrong. But here is a palm tree, Fletch & his leash and me in a VERY puffy coat... At least I tried.
