Day 151

It's Memorial Day in the U.S. Make a photo that symbolizes today and what it means to you.

Two Army men and my little man.  God Bless this Country and the men and women who serve, and may my children live a life of peace.

,

Day 150

Sunday challenge time! Find any sort of wildlife today, and make a photo. Get in close if you can and focus on the eyes

Near the North Sea in Belgium:

Day 149

Look up today and make a photograph of the sky. Cloudy, clear, or somewhere in between? Tell the story of your sky today.

Every day here in Naples the sky starts out blue and perfect.  By early afternoon clouds are building on the horizon, but they never reach us.  This is a metaphor for our stay here.
Brugge, Belgium:

Day 148

Clocks are omnipresent in modern life. Make a photo of the clock, watch, or other device that you use most to tell time.

Day 147

Shiny things attract attention. Make a photograph of a shiny object and post it today. Focus in on the reflections.

I reserve the right to re-do this one.

Day 146

Lose the rectangle today. Make a photograph with a square (1:1) aspect ratio and post it. Crop if needed.

I knew as soon as I read today's assingment that I wanted a big, round item in my square. Not sure why? So... here's my kitchen sink drain:

Day 145

Focus the viewer's attention. Make a photo of a single subject with as plain a background as you can.

Day 144

Today's color is purple. Maybe you'll find it on a fruit. Maybe a flower. Or, maybe a sign. Make a photo and post it.

Day 143

Sunday challenge time: Make a landscape photo (natural or urban). Create something that you'd want to put on your wall.

Day 142

Baskets, bags, and boxes: containers often go unnoticed. Make a photo focused on the container rather than the contents.

This doesn't exactly fit the assignment, but it's too good not to use.

Friday, May 21, 2010

Day 141

Fire hydrants come in many colors and forms. Make a dramatic portrait of your local fire hydrant.

Note to self: Do not catch on fire in Wiesbaden! I coudn't find a fire hydrant to save my lift. Literally! Here's a picture of the button I press to cross the street instead. Trust me: the next time  I see a dang hydrant, I'll be snapping LOTS of photos. Just couldn't find one today...

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Day 140

Work the angles today. Make a photo that gives us a unique perspective on an otherwise ordinary scene.

Day 139

Make a photo today that distills some simplicity from the complexity of the world.

Day 138

Self-assessment is vital to artistic growth. Look thru the photos you've posted so far. Remake one you'd like to improve

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Day 137

Black can be dramatic. Go for as much black in a photo as you can with lots of oomph, character, and depth.

I can not even express how much I love this tree.  It is a Magnolia, I estimate, 200 to 300 years old.  The blooms are the size of dinner plates.  When I decided to finally get out of the car today to take the picture the smell was overwhelming and wonderful.  I envisioned an old kind southern lady living in this house and waltzing out to offer me some sweet tea while she talks about the story of her ancestors planting the tree.  I can dream can't I.  I love the south.  I love that tree.

Day 136

Sunday Challenge (by popular request): Make a self-portrait, with or without the camera in the frame.

This was painful.

Agreed! Which is how I ended up with an abstract! Tried lots of different approaches, but I like the way those dudes in the white shirts look over my shoulder. (PS: That's my reflection in the window of a bathtub store. Yes, a bathtub store !?!?)

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Day 135

Make a photo that you think would work well as computer wallpaper, and try it out for a week.

Day 134

Find an interesting shadow--any shadow--and make a photograph of it. Consider your framing as you shoot.

I like the way it looks like there's some confeti on me :)

Friday, May 14, 2010

Day 133

Make a photograph with motion blur of one kind or another. Use a slow shutter speed, pan, or both.

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Day 132

Pick an everyday subject and get as close as you can to it. Make a photograph and post it!

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Day 131

What tools do you use and appreciate on a daily basis? Make an interesting photo of one such tool today.

Thought you would like this one El.

Monday, May 10, 2010

Oops: Day 91

I knew our numbering was off...and I finally had time this afternoon to figure out why. We accientally skipped day 91! Oops.

In an effort to eventually complete our project... Here's the assignment, which I'll make up soon, along with others that I've missed.

Health care is in the news and affects all of us one way or another. Illustrate your feeling about health care in a photo.

PS: C has a great excuse for being away lately. So: stay tuned!

(thanks El, I am back)

Day 130

Pay attention to your surroundings today. Make a photo of something you walk by every day without noticing.

And all this time, I thought the playground creatures were horses!

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Day 129

Make a photo that contains today's date in it somehow. Maybe abstract representation of the numbers. Maybe literally.

Mother's Day - ahhhh!

Day 128

Make a photograph that illustrates the last few days of weather wherever you've been.

I just know that C is going to post a beach photo that will kill me... It's been cold and overcast here.
Sorry El, this will only be the beginning, or I guess since I am going backwards the end.  Enjoy!

Friday, May 7, 2010

Day 127

Graffiti is something you can find almost anywhere. Make an interesting photograph of some graffiti and post it.

This is outside of Isabelle's school on the sidewalk on the way inside.  It was very difficult to find graffiti in Enterprise.  I think that is a good thing on a normal basis, but for this not so much.

I had to find "happy" graffiti :) This is on the door leading to our storage area. For some reason, I think a girl drew this? And since none are here now (but woah! there are LOTS of boys) I'm betting the artist has moved away...

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Day 126

Find a grid pattern somewhere-maybe a brick sidewalk or ceiling tiles-and make a photo of an interesting slice of it.

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Day 125

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Make a photograph of a yummy part of one of your meals today.

It's sad that I haven't learned more German yet. As a result, I've been eating a lot of pre-made food since I can politely point and ask for "that one please."

Today's "that one" was fresh mozarella, tomato, basil, olive oil and spices on a bagel. It was tasty! (Note the lack of ice in the Coke Light....usually a disappointment, but not today (May 5th) since it was a windy 55 degrees...)

This is not as good for you or yummy all the way around as "The German Point Meal" but I know the four of us consider this a food group and sometimes lunch.

Day 124

Find a statue, sculpture, or fountain and make a photograph of it today. Consider the time of day and light.
